I'll jump on this recently-lively band wagon of posting brick walls. My GGF was
Daniel S. Chapman, b. 1837 in Scott Co., Illinois. My GGGF was William Sherman Chapman,
30 June 1810 - 14 March 1865, b. Tennessee, d. Scott Co. Illinois, buried in the Merriss
Family Cemetery. His father, my GGGGF, was reportedly Samuel Chapman, no further
information known by me. I have extensive names, dates and other data on the marriages,
children, etc., of William Sherman, Daniel S., and his son (my GF) Benjamin Eugene
Chapman. Any leads to get me over the brick wall of which Samuel would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks, list.

As the Chapman line seems so lively now, I'll toss my brick wall in again.
I am looking for more information on ABNER CHAPMAN b. C 1800, GA; d. 1860-1870, GA, m. 9
Feb. 1825 in Pike Co, GA to Elizabeth Barrett. His sons were Joseph F. M.; b. C1843,
Jefferson, b. C1834 and WILLIAM THOMAS, b. 6 Dec. 1830--all in Pike Co., GA .
WILLIAM THOMAS CHAPMAN married Partia Ann Lifsey. They had a son named BENJAMIN ABNER who
is my ggrandfather born 28 Nov. 1862 in Pike Co, GA
Abner turned up in Pike Co. in the 1840 census and the marriage was recorded, but the
vague dates are those remembered by a family member. I don't know if there were
other siblings sired by William Thomas. My ggrandparents and other of their relations
and friends (Chapman,Norris, Spruiell) settled in and around Hubbard,Texas after the
Civil War.
Poor Abner doesn't seem to belong to anyone.
