AshfordConnecticut
There is a large family of Chapmans in the Old Saybrook Conn.
area--Robert
Chapman was the earliest known in this group.
Thanks. That may be a direction I have to go once I sort through the
Chapman's of Ashford. I can't help but feel my Susannah belongs to the
Ashford group. Marshall Robbins deposed on the Rev. War pension for Oliver
Chapman stating that he lived within one mile from this family in Ashford.
From the pension record and CT vital records, I know some of the
children of
Oliver and Eunice (Chaffee) Chapman. Mentioned in the pension records
were
Polly-Dolly (m Davis Thrasher), Jason and Joseph. The 1800 census in
Ashford shows children 3 m under 15 and 2 females 10- 15. My Susannah would
have been 5 years of age in 1800. Still.....there is definitely a
connection between the Robbins and Chapmans.
