Dear Wayne,
Thank you for your response. I am familiar with your Benjamin Chapman branch. Have you
ever corresponded with a Peggy B. Chapman, Floyd R. Chapman, Pat Vancil, or Judge Nathan
E. White? I have corresponded with all of them re: Benjamin Chapman and at least three of
them descend from him.
Have you ever seen Mildred Chapman Fail's " Ancestors and Descendants of James
Franklin Chapman and Mary Jane Wilson Chapman" compiled about 1978-79? She begins
with John b. April 1806, but Peggy Chapman reports to me that some of her work is wrong.
There is no proof but over the years I have seen that the wives of Benjamin might have
been a (1) Nancy and (2) Polly Ann.
I'm the corresponding secretary of the Chapman Family Association
www.chapmanfamilies.org and will see what can be done about getting the Benjamin Chapman
genealogy file updated and posted to our website.
I'll be on the lookout for more on the James Chapman, son of Daniel and Charity
House Chapman, that you mentioned.
Thanks again for your response.

I have this information in my family tree but he apparently is not your
James as he died in 1824. This James was in Robertson Co., TN where my
John Chapman, son of Benjamin was born in 1806. Could be a cousin.
This James father was Daniel and his mother Charity House. His siblings
were in order of birth: Mary, Unknown, John, Lyda, Rebecca, (James),
Giles, DanielJr, Thomas, Nancy, and Sally Chapman. I show James born
about 1796 and died at the early age of 28 in 1824.
I copied the following while in Nashville, several years ago.
"James Chapman
Died in 1824 and in a will dated 4 Sep 1824 left beloved brother, Giles,
a 65 acre tract of land, Browns? Fork, Cain Creek. Daniel Chapman was
one of the witnesses to the will. No wife or children are listed in the
will, just Giles. Ref: microfilm, TN State Library. Vol 3 from Robertson
Co. will book. "
