My ancestors are John, Edward, William and Jacob also known as Joe who
came fron Cumbeland Co. which is now a part of Russell Co. and sometimes
they would retreat back to Barren Co. if it was not safe. These boys
all came to IL in 1832 and located in Vermillion Co. IL at fist and then
in Crawford Co. IL. I also have info on a James b.1818 and married
Sarah Vine in Canada in 1845. Sarah b. 1821 in PA. He later married
Jane Hayes. I do not know how he fits into our family but would like to
hear from anyone who had more info. Karen

Hi Gang,
Okay, here are some names to kick around, might
help someone.
I am listing the very early ones that showed up in Lincoln
Co. Ky., some moverd down to Barren Co; Ky.-----then "puff"
they were all gone by 1820 census.
Richard Chapman, who was in Lincoln Co. died in 1828,
and probly was married 3 times, 2 we know of, left a Will
in which he names heirs of JAMES b.c 1788, DANIEL,
NANCY(m. to a Poynter) LEWIS, GRANVILLE and the
baby WILLIAM. William I know about, he removed to
Saline Co. Missouri-------he stated with a "brother".
Now bear in mind, there was also another kin family
of Chapmans living there also of DANIEL SR. &
DANIEL JR.
I have the following marriage records;
24 March 1814 Daniel Chapman m. Rachel Black
Bond was signed by James Chapman
Nancy Chapman witness (so this Daniel was
likely son of Richard.
In Barren; 4 March 1813
John Chapman b. c.1793 m. Sulky (Susanna) Black
Surety was Daniel Chapman
and in going back to Lincoln Co.
2 August 1808 James Chapman m. Polly (Mary) Beverly
(permission from father Richard Chapman)
Maybe this will help someone. I have copies of
many records, as they were kin to my Edward Chapman.
