I continue to look for the parents of Joseph Chapman who married Jane
Fleming about 1800 in Charleston SC. Because of the names of their
children, I suspect he was of the Giles Chapman family of Newberry SC,
but have not found the documents which firmly tie him to this family.

My Chapman is Joseph Garfield Chapman b. 8-18-1880, Midlothian, Allegany
Co,
MD. He m. Roma Stewart
date 8-22-1936 Danville, WV. She was the second wife. Joe is buried memorial
Park,Madison, WV.
Joe had a son to his first wife,James Robert, d. 27-Oct.-1968. Joe's first
wife was Lillie Sampson..I don't know much about her.
My dad said that Joe marched to a different drummer. It seems that he left
his family and ended up in WV.
There was only 9 yrs difference in their ages.
