If you think the Chapman was in town on a visit , I would read the local
newspaper for the date around the time of conception. Most local papers
ran a column of visitors in town for social events listing who they were
there to see and their home town. Sometimes it will list how long they were
in town.

Subject: [CHAPMAN] Chapman Question
Seeking information on a Joseph Chapman, I don't know anything
about him
but
his name and he was Naugatuck, WV around the holidays in 1908.
He is my grandfather, he and my grandmother, Virginia "Jennie" Evans had
an
affair ca 1908 around the holidays in Naugatuck, West Virginia. My father
Lee Roy Evans (b. 8-1909 d 12-1965) (he didn't like his name so he
reversed
it and went all his life by Roy Lee) {nickname Red for his hair}never saw
his father and it wasn't until the 1980's that mom and I were talking and
she said do you know that you aren't an Evans, I asked her what she meant.
Mom said that Jennie had an affair with a much older man that her (she was
born 2-1885) and that dad was born out of wedlock. I am the youngest child
of 6 and my siblings, the oldest of which was born in 1929 didn't know of
this info until I told them.
I had a Chapman 37 marker DNA test done and the test results show that I
have an exact match in 12 marker DNA, in the 25 marker there is a match
with
a Genetic Distance of 1 & in the 37 marker there is match with a Genetic
Distance of 2. He is currently on vacation so I can't find out his
ancestorial tree. But according to what I have been told he and I shared a
common ancestor probably about 6 generations back.
If anyone has a Joseph Chapman in their tree born before 1885 I would
appreciate your sending the his information. I have no idea as to his age,
mom didn't elaberate on how old he might have been (just that he was a
much
older man that Jennie) or if he was married. It is even posible that he
was
visiting the Naugatuck area and was just there for the holidays.
My Evans great-grand parents are Francis Marion (b 2-1837) & Dicy Ferrell
(b. 5-1860) Evans if that helps.
Thanks
