I have another question! There are a lot of the DNA reports that have just
one number or two numbers off from others. Could it be that these have
mutated over time? If this is a dumb question tell me!

The short answer is - it can't. What DNA analysis does is connect you
to other people that share DNA traits, and the hope is that the others
have more information about common ancestors than you do - or that some
conclusions can be drawn from geography, family names, etc.
Right now, it's sort of a shot in the dark, but if enough people
participate, we can eventually sort and classify all the Chapmans with
roots in Virginia - then we can collectively work our way back to Europe
with that knowledge.
