BEDFORD — Former Mitchell resident Hubert R. “Chappie” Chapman, 82, Bedford,
passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 11, 1925 in Dry Ridge, Ky., he was the son of Noel and Lucy
(Rymer) Chapman. He was first married to Virginia Lawrence and then married
Emily C. (Hicks) Miller, and she preceded him in death Dec. 23, 1994.
He was a farmer and retired as a security guard. He was a U.S. Army veteran
of World War II and a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250
and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Surviving are two sons: Wayford Chapman, Williams and Wayman Chapman,
Morningview, Ky.; a stepson, Steven D. Miller of Bedford; a sister, Margaret
Hensley, Columbus, Ohio; two granddaughters: Regina and Chris Chapman; step
grandchildren: Derek Miller, Francie Miller, Brandon and Heather Brown; and
step great-grandchildren, Ethan Wayne Brown and Emily Miller.
His parents and wife preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Schultz Cemetery
in Martinsville with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American
Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.
9107.
