Hello Wanda,
My Chapmans settled in Texas also, but in the Waco area. Some
relatives now live near the city of Salado which, I suppose, could be near
Salado Creek. Any way, my brick wall is Abner, born some time around 1800
maybe in Georgia (?) who had two known sons, Joseph F M. and William Thomas.
William (b.1830) had Benjamin Abner (b. 1862) who died in Hubbard Texas, my
grandfather. There are other Chapmans not known to be related to me in the
same small town graveyard.
My question is did your GGGrandfather William have a son named Abner?
I know the evidence is weak, but I am at the clutching at straws point.

Hello everyone,
I, too, have learned a lot about my ancestors in the past year. I now
have pictures of my great and great-great grandfathers. However, I still
have not been able to get past my stumbling block....William Chapman, my
great-great-great grandfather, who was born in the 1780's in Virginia but
lived and raised a family in Giles Co. Tennessee. He married Dorthula
"Dolly" Moore. I do not know who either of their parents were nor where
they lived in Virginia. So, it has been difficult to obtain any further
information. Amazingly, I have found the property where my great-great
grandfather, Elijah, lived in Williamson Co. Texas and have pictures of
the chimney that is still standing where he lived near the Salado Creek.
Although I was not raised in Texas, I live here now and only live about 60
miles from that location. This has really been an interesting journey for
me!!!!
