>Judy,
Do you know when the Abner, son of Enoch and also the Abner, son of
William were born?
Even if the dates are unlikely to relate to my Abner, I'd like to use them to identify
future references as I come across them. I really appreciate your information.
Please reply to me at bbrotherton6293(a)sbcglobal.net. I have just changed over tonight and
haven't notified Rootsweb yet.
Many, many thanks,
Barbara Chapman Brotherton

Hello Wanda and Barbara,
I think we have a connection if we could only figure out what it is. My
brick wall is Enoch Chapman, born South Carolina 1783. His children were
William, John, Abner, James, and Nancy. William and John were born in South
Carolina as well, Abner and James in Tennessee and Nancy in Perry County
Alabama where the family eventually settled. However, two of Enoch's
children (James and Abner) and many of the grandchildren came to Texas.
William was my GG Grandfather and his children were James, Martha, George,
Abner, David, Keran, Joseph, Eli, Robert, William, L.E. and J.H. Very
confusing since the brothers and the uncles had the same names. George
Seagler Chapman, son of William Chapman was my great-grandfather and his
children were James Lide, Abner, Jessie, George, David, William, and Perry.
I would like to theorize that Wanda's Abner, Barbara's William, and my Enoch
Chapman could have been brothers or maybe first cousins. Proving that is
"another again"

Hello Wanda,
My Chapmans settled in Texas also, but in the Waco area. Some
relatives now live near the city of Salado which, I suppose, could be near
Salado Creek. Any way, my brick wall is Abner, born some time around 1800
maybe in Georgia (?) who had two known sons, Joseph F M. and William Thomas.
William (b.1830) had Benjamin Abner (b. 1862) who died in Hubbard Texas, my
grandfather. There are other Chapmans not known to be related to me in the
same small town graveyard.
My question is did your GGGrandfather William have a son named Abner?
I know the evidence is weak, but I am at the clutching at straws point.
