Cece, Several years ago Stark Nurseries catalog cover showed a picture of
the what was supposed to be the only known original tree left. It looked
more like a stump with one limb. All seeds had been saved from this tree
and planted for seedlings. I am sure I save the cover. The location was
in Ohio but I don't remember the town. If you Google Stark Orchard/Nursery
you might find the picture.

Subject: Re: [CHAPMAN] Johnny Appleseed
I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread. I am sure I studied Johnny
Appleseed
in school , lo those many years ago. However, the info did not
"stick"
with
me.
I was glad for this refresher course.
Now for some questions. I know I could "google" this, but does anyone
know
if there is known orchards started by our famous cousin? How long
does it
take to have a fruit producing tree, when planted from seed? Wouldn't it
be
neat to have a tree in one's backyard from the very
variety/actual tree
that
Johnny started?
Many Thanks,
Cece
