While searching the
www.chapmanfamily.org website I found this.
Samuel Chapman was a purser/steward on the Cunard lines.
His father William was born in Belfast,Ieland but grew up in Glasgow
Scotland the later is where they claimed to be from.William apprentised
as a Ship Carpenter.at Clyde Scotland.William came to america about
1922.He met and married Emily Noakes from the battle Region of England
and both were married in Glen Cove N.Y.1927-28..
This narrative I am transcribing.say's that in Scotland the Chapman name
meant a "Tinker"
a mender of pots and pans.It is somewhat more acceptable than a
Gypsy.Like I mentioned in my previous meassage to the list.Where they
were Hawkers of Fruit on the streets.
I posted my connection Emily Rosina Chapman born in London, married too
Frederick Chapman,Frederick is the nephew of my Great Grandfather james
Blatchford, born in Jersey 1845.He to worked in a shipyard.
My grandfather George Tame Blatchford might have been a Shipmate of
Samuel Chapman.??
Both worked for the Cunard Steamship lines.
George was a Saloon Steward/Night Cabin Steward.Samuel was a
Purser/Steward.same time frame.

Frederick Blatchford from Guernsey was also in a similiar time frame as
Samuel Chapman from Scotland and George Tame Blatchford from
Southhampton.I was able to get Georges seamans record.Wonder what would
happen if I could do the same for frederick and Samuel.?
keep on-keeping on-never quit. Roger
