Many of us would like to know if some of these Chapman men were related.
Here is some research done be David Chapman 1999 on Early VA Chapman's of
Caroline Co. VA. I have other research that had been done if I can find it
that I will share it with you also.
Karen
In an attempt to locate ancestors, siblings or a spouse for my Samuel
Chapman b. abt. 1705, d. 1773 Amelia Co., VA. I searched some early
Caroline Co. VA records in several books that I borrowed form the CA State
Library. Together with what Sandy Todd sent me previously I came up with
this list of Chapman's from the first half of the 18th century in Caroline
Co., VA
Mar.8, 1732 to Aug. 13, 1736 Samuel Chapman appears in the order book
several times.
Sep.10, 1736 Moses Chapman acknowledged his deeds of lease and release of
land indented to Samuel Chapman in the order book.
Nov. 11, 1737 John Chapman ordered along with others to help mend a bridge.
1739 Moses Chapman died, Mary Chapman executor from Caroline Co. History by
T. E. Campbell.
Jun. 13, 1740 The case of Mercey Chapman vs. Samuel Chapman is dismissed.
(Mercy is usually found as a female name)
May 9, 1740 George Chapman and Samuel Chapman get jury duty.
Apr.8, 1743 the case of Richard Chapman vs. Thomas Carr. abated because
plaintiff is dead. (plaintiff should be Richard Chapman since he is listed
first)
Jun. 10, 1743 Edward and Johannah Cason acknowledged their dees of lease and
release indented to Nathaniel Chapman.
Nov. 11, 1743 Nathaniel Chapman and Rosa his wife acknowledged their deeds
of lease and release indented to Payton Smith.
Sep. 9, 1743 Robert Cason ordered to pay Nathaniel Chapman 14.13.1 pounds
for breach of covenant.

Subject: [CHAPMAN] Early VA Chapmans
Does anyone know if there is any relationship between the John
Chapman of
Culpepper, VA and the John Chapman of Spotsylvania, VA. I believe they
were
both in the early 1700's. Since the locations are so close, I
thought
there
might be a connecton.
Thanks,
Gary Chapman
