There were a few.
Some of the earliest from Newberry SC went to Georgia.
Newberry, Saluda is not far from the SC, Georgia line.

Subject: [CHAPMAN-L] Jacob H. Chapman b. Ga. d. TX unknown
Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2004 20:27:47 -0600
My ggggrandfather, Unknown Chapman was born in VA. His son, Jacob H.
Chapman
was born in GA. ca. 1835, he married Mary Jane Mullins, abt. 1858, location
unknown. She was b. GA, her father was reported to be Jim Mullins. The
family migrated to Hunt County, TX by 1870. The first son, George W.
Chapman
was born in AL, abt. 1859, d. Wood Co., TX. The second son, (my ancestor)
Levi Whit (aka. Levi Whitson, Leviaton Whitfield), was born GA., August 4,
1860, d. 1937 in Zavala Co, TX . During the meanwhile, he lived in Rains
Co., TX.
Is anyone familiar with the Chapmans in Georgia in the 1830's?
Any help would be appreciated.
