Harry P. Chapman

FRENCH LICK — Harry P. Chapman, 82, French Lick, died at 11 p.m. Thursday at
his residence.
Born Aug. 15, 1924, in Elyria, Ohio, he was the son of Guy Rexford and
Virginia (Dietrich) Chapman.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II,. He served on Princeton and
Hornet aircraft carriers.
He was director of catering at French Lick Sheraton Hotel. He was an avid
artist, chef, conversationalist, gardener and golfer. He was a member of the
French Lick American Legion Post No. 76.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Chapman, of Elcielo Palm Springs, Calif,
and Jeffery Chapman and wife Nancy of Houston, Texas; one grandson, Brooks
Chapman; three granddaughters, Cole Chapman, Abby Chapman and Tate Chapman;
and two cousins, Donald Ciliax of Huntsville, Ala. and Gordon Ciliax of
Brighton, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Chapman.
