Hi, Folks,
Replying is a bit difficult today, because I'm visiting my daughter in NYC, and am not
used to her laptop. However, a quick note (I'll return home Nov 6) for now.
Yes, that 1741 Ezekiel Chapman is mine: b 26 Oct 1741, Norwich CT is mine. His eldest s.
Zenas b Lebanon CT 23 Apr 1770.
Zenas had 2 marriages: the first to Anna Randol (Randall) in Chatham CT Children:
Charles b 1795, Jabez b 1796, Anna b 1799, Lucy, b 1801, all Lebanon, then Katherine (or
Catherine, as spelled later) in Fly Creek, Otsego County NY.
Zenas' 2nd marriage (from which I descend) to Penelope Westcott, in Cooperstown NY 24
Jan 1812. Issue: 3
1. Nancy Chapman b 1812, m Ira D. Tanner
2. Randall Chapman b 1814 m Eunice Gibbs (3 children: Emeline d 1850, but Randall moved
with his 2 sons after the death of Eunice, which was some time after 1840, from Otsego
County to Livingston Cty NY with both sons, John b 1840 and Evander b 1842. Then after
John returned from the Civil War, they all 3 moved to Michigan. I have quite a bit more on
this branch, if anyone needs to know - but please wait till I'm home again.
3. Daniel W. b 1817 (from whom my descent).
I have a lot on these Chapmans, and right now am searching for more on Ezekiel's other
children as well as whether my Ezekiel is the 1790 Census one in Argyle, Washington County
NY (the last child, Ezekiel L. born there 1789 according to Bible record) or the Ezekiel
in Middlebury, Addison County, VT. Aargh! I'm getting so many more ties and clues to
VT, that I'm beginning to wonder if Ezek L. was b in Argyle and then Ezek Sr moved to
Middlebury before the census. The problem is that neither census adds up exactly right -
so I've been trying to gather as much info about Ezek's other children as I can.
I've found an Ezek L. who migh be the son, m. to a Deborah Fowler, and was just about
to put a query on a Fowler message board.
But ain't it all fun??
Cheers! Jean
