Do you know the name of your Thomas' first wife and how long had he been in
Nova Scotia. I am looking for a Thomas Chapman, but his son was born in UK c
1820. I recall some old family photos taken in New York c 1870 but don't
know who they were except they were connected to Chapmans.

Hi Jil,
No, sorry I don't know her name nor their length of time
in Nova Scotia.
I do know he was a mariner and I think from England.
and a widow when he married:
Mary O. Smith from Marie Joseph and she was a spinster,
Mary died of cholera in 1834,
when her daughter Mary Ann Chapman was just a wee babe, of 2 years.
the neighbors helped raise her.
Her father at times took her with him when he sailed, she was well informed
to the
life at sea according to an Autobiography that was given to me by one of my
relatives.
Sorry I could'nt be of help.
Betty in Alaska
