Noni said that she had sent you her info on the Caroline Co./ Md Chapman's
In some of my information I have that Thomas Chapman b.1690 , son of Thomas, had 4 sons:
Nathaniel b. ca 1712
John b.ca 1714
Isaac b. ca 1716
George no birth date, died before 1760
I was wondering if the George b. about 1710 and found in Caroline Co. VA and died 1758 might be the George listed above?''
I know that this George had a son named George and I believe a wife named Ann from will History of Caroline Co. VA by T. E. Campbell.
Noni said that if she remembers correctly that this was a mistake that was printed in a book and that there are not the sons of Thomas b. 1690. Wondering if you might have this info or what you might know about this Geo. Chapman who is found in Caroline Co.?

Carol I second your suggestion on making it known in the title what the email
corresponds to. I don't have time to read all the emails and only open ones
that look related to what I am searching. Bettye
You may be right.
I will try to find some more information for you.

Thanks for your message and interest. Unfortunately, no, I do not have
these dates. He apparently died about 1810. I have not found him in
any census, nor do I know where he was buried - probably in the old
city cemetery which was covered over many years ago. I have not found
him in the civil burial/ death records for Charleston. The only date I
have for him is his marriage to Jane Fleming. I have placed him in the
family of Samuel Chapman of the Giles Chapman family but have no proof
that this is the man. His children were Joseph [the eldest], Sarah,
Samuel [my ancestor] and Emmanuel Perry. This last son, I think, was
named for a good friend of the family. But the other three names are
similar to some of the Giles Chapman family.
If you or anyone in this forum can add to information on this
particular Joseph Chapman, I will greatly appreciate it. I have much
information on the Giles Chapman family kindly provided to me by other
researchers in times past.

I continue to look for the parents of Joseph Chapman who married Jane
Fleming about 1800 in Charleston SC. Because of the names of their
children, I suspect he was of the Giles Chapman family of Newberry SC,
but have not found the documents which firmly tie him to this family.

The information that I have about the John who settled in Culpeper Co in
that his ancestors came from England and first settled in Connecticut.and
emigrated to Charles Co. Maryland.long prior to the American Revolution.
After the settlement of MD and before the Revolution, some of them came to
Culpeper Co VA and settled: Isaac who married Miss Sara Cole and had 3 sons
and 1 daughter. Isaac, John and Richard and Jemima. Issac went south to
Alabama shere his descendants still reside. John married Sallie Abbott and
Richard married Margaret Abbott, daughters of Richard Abbott of Culpeper Co,
VA and the Daughter married Mordock O. McKensey
In Nov. 1768 John Chapman, Richard Chapman and Moredock O. McKensey removed
from Culpeper Co to Shenandoah, in the Valley of VA and from thence in 1771
came to the New River Valley and settled at the mouth of Walkers Creek where
John Chapman had to dwelling houses destroyed by the Indians; his family
being forced to flee the Snidow Fort for protection. In the spring of 1778
McKensey removed to the mouth of Wolf Creek, where his family, in May of
that yr. was attacked by the Indians and a portion of them killed and
another poartion carried into captivity. Some years afterward time not
definitely known, Richard Chapman removed from Walker's Creek to Wolf Creek.
In another place I have that the John Chapman b. aby 1700 in Charles Co MD
died befor 1765 in Culpeper Co VA and was the son of Edward. This doesn't
match the above information. The above doc. also has names of descendentsif
any one is interested.

Karen -
I have some IL Chapman connections. My great grandparents Frank Thomas
Chapman and Pauline Miller were married in Chicago on December 26, 1899.
Their 3 children Harmon Marbold, Anna Katherine, and Frank Miller were born
in MO, OH, and OR. They lived later in OR where Pauline died July 1949.
Frank died in CT January 15, 1966. The youngest child Frank Miller Chapman
(he went by Miller Chapman) died in Chicago in 1956.
If anyone has access to lookups in the Chicago area - I'd love to have more
info on the marriage or death described.
