I just got the results of expanding my test to 37 markers, and it just
put me that much farther away from the Chapmans that show up at the
lower marker results.
I'm wondering if my test results are accurate.....
There is a fellow named Adams that is almost a perfect match at 37
markers, and we can't find any possible relationship - namewise or by
geography.

There is a book on the New London, CT area on e-bay. It is the Diary of Joshua Hempstead and covers the years 1711 to 1758. It is 750 pages and the Chapman name is listed numerous times in the index. There are 55 different Chapmans listed on numerous pages. It often lists births, marriages and deaths.
Thanks- Karen - for your information. I very much appreciate your
taking time to write. I did look at this site, but found nothing I
could tie "my" Joseph Chapman to. But thanks anyway. I feel pretty
sure he came to Charleston from Newberry but there is certainly still a
question. There is a piece of evidence that his wife returned there
sometime after his death. Ed T of PGH

PLEAE REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE.
Also try not to just hit reply, but copy the part of the message your
responding to and then said your query or comment. The archives get to filled up
with garbage over an over.

Amen, brother, amen. It is a waste of other subscriber's time to have to go
through posts that no longer deal with the subject line and which one would
automatically delete if not of personal interest. And also rude of those
who are too lazy to do anything except hit "Reply."

I have been looking for information on Sarah (Sally) CHAPMAN for 15
years! without any success. She was born, according to her
tombstone, 25 June 1804 (probably in CT) She married John
AYLESWORTH/ELSWORTH of Peterboro, Madison Co., NY. They lived there
until about 1840/41. They moved to or were passing through Crawford
Co. Pa in 1842 where their 6th child was born. (first 5 in
Peterboro). They then moved to Brookfield, Waukesha Co., WI by 1844.
I think Brookfield was part of Milwaukee Co. at that time. John died
in Brookfield in 1849. Sarah moved with her daughter to Prairie du
chien, Crawford Co., WI. Sarah died 21 November 1897 and is buried
in Milwaukee WI. Her children were: Sophronia Elsworth CALLINAN, b.
1831; Rhoda Elsworth THOMPSON, b. about 1833; Polly Elsworth BREUSCH
& FROST, b. 1835; Safety Elsworth THOMSON, b. 1837; Jane Elsworth
HOWARD & ROBBINS, b. 1839; Fanny Maria Elsworth NUGENT, b. 1842 PA;
Eliphalet ELSWORTH b. 1844 WI; and John ELSWORTH, b. 1846 WI. Census
records report that Sarah's father was born in RI and her mother in CT.
According to census records, the father of my gggrandfather--George Henry Chapman--was Willard, married to Polly. The information I found states that they were both born in New York. They had moved to Darlington, Durham, Ontario, Canada, by the time George Henry was born in 1838.
Does anyone have any information on a Willard that moved to Canada? There are a couple of Willard in New York census, but I have not been able to connect them to any family.
Thanks for any help.
