James, do you have any info on the Chapmans sons children? I am descended from John Hall Chapman, b. 1815, parents names unknown. He shows up in Columbiana Co. Ohio in 1839, married to Mary Hawley. In 1848, they end up in Mercer Co. Ohio. His son marries a woman named Koch, whose grandmother was a Leininger from France.
Without getting into too many details, the Leininger's are related to Persis Chapman, Johnny Appleseed's half-sister through marriage to her daughter. It seems odd to me that my ancestor ended up in the same area as Johnny's family twice. I have exhausted most leads for John in looking for his parents. He was supposedly born in Lycoming Co. PA, but no Chapman family there has him listed either.
Is there anything you might be able to help with? Thanks.
Kim

The nearest person who I have found that just might be the father is listed
in Chalkleys. This is what it says:
"20 Nov 1761 Jacob Chapman--Parish Levy for Jacob Chapman's burial."
This would have meant 'our' Jacob would have been under 10 years of age. I
don't really understand what the statement means. Do you know?

I'm sorry! I didn't sign my name, let alone introduce myself in my previous
post!
My name is Veronica Chapman Eranio. My parents were Paul Chapman and Mary
Beatty. Both of my father's parents died when he was young, and since my parents
married while my father was in the service, we were raised here in MA near my
mother's family. I grew up not really knowing much about my Chapman side of
the family. Well, now my curiosity has a firm hold on me, and I want more! I
should be satisfied to know that my father did come from somewhere, but now I'm
interested in seeing how far back his branch of the Chapmans go, since my mom's
family are 20th century immigrants from Ireland. As I said earlier, my father
was Paul Chapman. He was the son of Okey Franklin Chapman and Lenore
Williams. Okey was the son of William Houston Chapman and Sarah Malinda Rollyson.
Without taking up any more of all your time, William Houston is descended from
Jacob's son, William O. I know queries about Jacob's parents were posted before,
but unfortunately, I'm about 5 years too late, and couldn't find if it was
ever discussed. Sorry this post is so long, and I look forward to meeting some
cousins!
Ronnie

What a nice thing to do for your veteran ancestors.

A virus has been passed to me and my address book infected. Since you are in
my address book you will probably find it in your computer. The virus called
jdbg.exe is not detected by Norton or McAfee Anti-virus systems. The virus
sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent
automatically by"messenger" and by address book, whether or not you sent
email to your contacts. Here is how to check for the virus and how to get
rid of it. PLEASE DO THIS!
1. Go to Start & click your find or search option.
2. In the folder option type the name jdbgmgr.exe
3 Be sure to search your C drive and all sub folders and any other drive you
may have.
4.Click Find Now
5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT!!
6.Go to Edit on the menu bar and Select All to highlight the file without
opening it.
7. Now go to File(on the menu bar) and select DELETE. It will then go to the
recycle bin. If you find the virus you must contact all the people in your
address book so they may eradicate the virus from their own address books.
To do this:
1. Open a new e-mail message.
2.Click the icon Address Book next to "TO"
3. Highlight every name and add to "BCC"
4. Copy this message and paste to e-mail
5. Send the e-mail

Hi,
I am a new subscriber and am searching for info on the following family:
John CHAPMAN. Born in 1750 in Loudoun County, VA.1 Was on the census
for Wilkes Co., NC, in 1790.2 John died in Wilkes Co., NC, on 15 or 18
Nov 1836; he was 86.1 Buried in probably Wilkes Co., NC.
John is listed in the 1790 census in the 15th Company with having in
the household: 1 white male over 16 years of age; 3 white males under
the age of 16 years; and 5 white females (unsure as to whether Leanah
was one of the 5 females or not.) Another interesting note on this
same census is that there is an “ENOCH CHAPMAN” listed. John’s son,
William, would also name a son, “ENOCH”, which would cause one to
wonder if this Enoch on the census was a brother to John. [Anybody know
about this ENOCH??] In any event, one of these 3 white males listed in
John and Leanah’s family was John and Leanah’s son, William.
On 18 Jan 1779 when John was 29, he married Leanna BROWN1, in Wilkes
Co., NC.1 Born in 1761 in Wilkes County, NC.1 Leanna died aft 1843; she
was 82.1
I only know info on this one child:
2 i. William Washington (1781-1857)
Thanks for any help!
