Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I don't recall seeing info about the DAR website on the list, so thought
I'd share it. I have an ancestor that I know was in the Rev. War and
wondered if anyone had ever claimed him as an ancestor for membership in
the DAR. I discovered that they have a website where they will check
their database (no fee for just checking the database) for the name of
your ancestor. (They got back to me, via email, in less than a week.
Alas, my David Kinney/McKinney was not listed.) However, if he had
been, then I could have contacted them about providing me info from
their files. I don't know the current fee for info from their files. I
did receive paperwork on one of my Chapman ancestors a year or so
ago....it takes quite a while to receive copies of paperwork; I think it
was several months. Pat Pulasky

Amyson Chapman, b. 1800 in Harford CT, d. 1881 in Waterloo twp, WI. I have
found a reference to an Ammyson Chapman who went from Fulton County, Illinois
and tried to establish a ferry on the Rock River in Illinois near the present
location of Prophetstown, Whiteside County, Illinois. He and his partner
were run away from the location and the enterprise by the Winnebago indians.
Can anyone confirm or deny that these two 'Amyson/Ammyson Chapmans' are the
same person? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
John Pfiffner
1830 was the start of the Mormon pilgramage towards Utah. It sounds like Amyson
Chapman may have been part of this migration. You might want to check at your local
LDS Library, particularly the book, the LDS Bio/Encyclopedia, where there are small
bios on these persons/families that followed Joseph Smith, Jr.
Hope this is helpful to you,

Harold,
I don't know any of John's sibling's, etc. and am
trying to tie-in somewhere. I don't have any
William's from John's line(i.e. he didn't name any of
his children William) if that would help. I do know
that there were quite a few Chapman's in northern
Ohio, but they aren't in my line, either--that I know!
If I remember right, there was more than just one John
Chapman in the Beaver County area when I looked. Did
you also check the Bucks County Chapmans? My John
doesn't fit, but your William might fall in there
someplace.
Good Luck!

Kim,
My ggfather was William F. Chapman b. 12-29-1830 in
Stark Co., Ohio. I have unproven data stating that a
John Chapman born in Beaver Co., PA was his father. I
have run John's line down several generations finding no
son with a name of William F. Chapman. Do either of

Flavia, It looks like our Chapmans are from different families. My line is
Marian Chapman, Charles Frank & Minnie Chapman, Isaac & Mary Martha Chapman,
John & Eunice Chapman. John & Eunice were born in Maine as was Isaac. This
line descends from Edward Chapman of Ipswich. Thank you for replying
though. I thought we might be related when I saw the location. I know my
mother had Chapman cousins. Kathy

Hi, Louise, and other "Unsubscribers"
We are all busy. Please follow the instructions you received in your welcome
message to the list when you first joined, imploring you to keep the message
for futre reference, or else, go to the list website, which you will find at
rootsweb, with some effort on your part, and follow the instructions there
to unsubscribe. The main instruction fore unsbuscribing from this, and any
other list you will ever belong to in your lifetime, is not to post to the
list to unsbuscribe, but post to the 'bot' in the same manner you
subscribed. The second most courteous instruction would be not to ask other
list members to do the legwork of unsubscribing for you which you are loathe
to do for yourself. Neither the list administrator nor your compatriots who
are taking the time to do genealogy research are supposed to do this for
you. Be considerate and unsubscribe yourself.

Kay,
A gedcom on the John Chapman, b. 1626 in England, who was one of the first
inhabitants of Bucks Co. is found at the url below. The source of the
gedcom is Bobbye Herion Phillips., who is a direct descendant of this John
Chapman. From the number of children these folks had they could have
populated half of the country! LOL. This gedcom has 3 generations of
Chapmans born in Bucks Co. by 1770. In those three generations, there are
23 named Chapman children, 14 male, 9 female. There is geneology on only
one male in each generation. John A. Chapman got married in Bucks Co. in
1788 & moved to Ohio and the process repeats itself for the next several
generations. Obviously some of John A.'s siblings stayed in the
Philadelphia area. The tree has named Chapmans born through 1886 in Indiana,
Oklahoma, & Texas.
I hope this helps.
Gary Chapman
