SecDef Rumsfeld opened the Cabinet Mtg at the White House yesterday with
this prayer (Printed in Wash. Times):
Ever-faithful God, in death we are reminded of the precious birthrights
of life and liberty you endowed in your American people. You have shown
once again that these gifts must never be taken for granted.
We pledge to those whom you have called home, and ask of you--
Patience, to measure our lust for action;
Resolve, to strengthen our obligation to lead;
Wisdom, to illuminate our pursuit of justice, and
Strength, in defense of liberty.
We seek your special blessing today for those who stand as sword and
shield, protecting the many from the tyranny of the few. Our enduring
prayer is that you shall always guide our labors and that our battles
shall always be just.
We pray this day, heavenly Father, the prayer our nation learned at
another time of righteous struggle and noble cause--America's enduring
prayer: Not that God will be on our side, but always, O Lord, that
America will be on your side. Amen.

Barry,
On behalf of America, I thank you! I am in the heart of the
USA....Iowa. I, like most, have been glued to the news reports. As
someone said, our country has been spared the devastation within our shores
that others have withstood. We've always been somewhat protected by the
oceans.........but now to realize that this has changed, is not only a hard
pill to swallow, but also the fact that it was done by one who, as the
President has described as a "coward", is also hard to fathom. It's hard
to realize that this has happened within our shores....and that it was
pulled off so very successfully with such precision.
My heart cries for those whose lives were lost....for their families, and
for those who knew them. It was a tragic way to die, but in my mind, they
died for everything this country believes in.
I thank you for your kind words. I hope that the rest of the world will
aid in the search for those responsible for this terrible senseless.
Normally I don't allow these sort of posts, but I think all will
agree.......this day has touched a lot of hearts.......and there's only one
way to get through this sorrow.....to band together in both heart and spirit.

Jim,
We have passed notes on many occasions about Noah Chapman's. The parallelism
between your Noah and mine is uncanny and continues. That is they both left
CT about the same time, traveled into NY yours through Schohari Co.,
(Jefferson) mine through Otsego Co. (Cooperstown possibly Richfield) and at
almost the same time. Both Noahs of very similar ages.
I learned a short time back that my Noah's wife name was Ann as yours is
Annie and my Ann dissapears about 1810 to 1813. However, I have no
indication of my Noah having children named Abram, Daniel, Susann or Elias
but rather mine Noah had Noah, Jonathan, George, Isaac, Lucretia, Dudley,
Jacob and Ariel all slightly older than your Noah's Children.
If I recall correctly your Noah passed through Cayuga Co. and I know through
marriages that my Noah did also.
I still believed these are parallel lines but will continue tracing them.
Good luck and keep in touch.

Hi Pat, I have been on all along just lurking, looking and searching! Still
looking for the SAME thing. Trying to find James final resting place and
hopfully the date of same. I did find the date of death and the place for
your William but nothing for Joseph or James. I suspect you already have the
info on William. Well the search goes on and on, but I do love it. Nice to
hear from you. This is such a great list and family. Peggy
I suppose it's time to publish this again, in hopes that someone will
recognize Noah and Annie!

Noah Chapman claimed to be a Revolutionary War veteran. There are several in
the records, all from Connecticut.
Annie Tabor is thought to have come from France with the French soldiers
during the Revolution.
Both just 'show up' in Jefferson, Scoharie County, New York in 1806. Thomas
Chapman also shows up at that time, and he probably was related. Thomas'
descendants have been published on this discussion group.
Hi, all!
Just a reminder that I am still searching for
information on John Hall Chapman, born in Lycoming
County Pennsylvania on May 25, 1815. Looking for
parents, siblings, etc. Is there anyone out there who
may have some family with connections to either this
area or to John himself? John is found in 1839 in
Columbiana County, Ohio marrying Mary Hawley. He
lived the rest of his life in Ohio. I have no info
from his birth to 1839 and haven't found any!
Please, someone help me!!!

Hello,
Does anyone have a ELISHA MARTIN CHAPMAN in their line?
He was born in Lyme, Conn. NOV. 26, 1855 died FEB. 28, 1941.
Thank you for any information that you can give me,
Jane
Hi Roland, I will take your info and go to the Sherburn Co. Courthouse mid
next week and see if I can find anything for you on Percy, Jesse and their
parents James and Emma Varley Chapman. If I find anything I will send it on
to you. I will let you know either way. Peggy
Hi Diana, Our Chapman line is down from Thomas, William, Capt. George,
George, James, James, George. Our other family names are, Jobes,
Blakeborough, Weaver, Haught. I am the family researcher (no one else seems
to want to) and have been researching the Chapman family since 1953 when my
son was born. I am not a Chapman by birth but rather by CHOICE. My husbands
name is also James (actually Jimmy) so you see how the given names have
followed this branch of the family. This branch came from England or Ireland,
W Va, Ohio, to Hennepin Co, Minnesota in about 1860. does any of this sound
familiar to you? Peggy
My grand father died in Salem OR,born in MN,father In,Pearce James, his
father James Wm.[called Bill].
