Know it's not "Chapman" related, but just wanted to wish everyone a
Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.
I think this year we have much to be thankful for and hope that we all
keep those directly, and indirectly affected by 911 in our hearts and
prayers.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

VanDorn rings a bell for me. My gggrandfather Ezekiel Chapman married
(supposedly) a Mary VanDorn sometime before 1820. Possibly in Onondaga
County, NY. They produced twin sons (Clinton & Cortland) in 1820 and in 1823
another son Clarke Charles.
Any Connection?

Lu, this is all I know of my family except for my descendants.
I surely do hope you can tie someone up to your Evans. Marvin died
Feb 1921 as a result of gas in WW1. He was adopted when he was a young lad,
my guess being around 5 or 6. I have always thought that
he might be the son of Thomas and Willie and one or the other died but
I have NO evidence-just a guess. This is where I have spent most of my time
together with trying to find John R.'s family.
Good Luck,
Marvin

I have spent the better part of three years looking for the parents of a
Marvin Evans Chapman with no luck. I feel fairly sure that you are the lead
I have been looking for. My Grandparents adopted a young lad
named Marvin Evans Chapman and I was always told he was a double cousin of my
mother. I will send you all of the Chapman info that I have
just as soon as I can. Right now I just don't have the time. Please stay in
touch.

Hello Chappies.
Can anybody help me answer this interesting email query? It looks like a possible connection to the Benjamin Greenberry Chapman out of Mud River, John/Millie, etc.
Tom
Hi,
The Genforum messages of both of you mentioned "Greenberry" Chapman. I am
searching for the ancestors of Susannah Chapman, who md. Joseph Arnold of
Baltimore Co., MD, on July 30, 1736. She was b. c. 1715 to possibly Robert
and Elizabeth ( ) Chapman.
Anyway, one son of Susannah and Joseph was named Greenbury, as named in
Joseph's 1757 will. Other sources claim that his full name was John
Greenbury. His siblings were Benjamin, Joseph, Elizabeth, Rachel, Patience,
Rebecka, and my ancestress, Susanna, who md. Benjamin Durbin c. 1767 and
died Dec. 24, 1836.
I am hopeful that you can be of help. If I have anything helpful to you in
your search, I'll be happy to trade.

Hi,
I'm new to the list,
thanks for having me!
~I'm currently searching for my ggAunt; Susie Evans who married
a gentleman with the last name of CHAPMAN.
I know she lived in Melville, La. St. Landry Parish during
the late 1800's and early 1900's, she may have also lived
in Dry Prong, or Krotz Springs, La.
~Aunt Susie Evans Chapman had sisters named Mandy and Janyne Evans
and one brother named Robert Evans.(he may have been a capt. hauling
logs on the Atchafalaya River.)Robert's wife was Louise Randall from
Amite co. Ms.
~I am told by my Grandpa that Aunt Susie Chapman had two boys and one girl from this marriage.
~Any information or clues anyone might be able to add would be very much appreciated!
p.s.
~Is there such a thing as a marriage search for St. Landry Parish, La. and
if so, where would one go for such help?
Thanks again,
Lu

Hi all!
It's been a while since I've posted. I am looking for info on a George Chapman who died in 1804 in Bath Co, Virginia. In his will he mentions four sons: George Jr, Edmund, Joseph and Benjamin. If anyone has access to this will I would love to get a copy of it!! I haven't had much luck in locating it.
I first saw mention of it a couple years ago - when I first turned to the www for genealogy. I marked the page thinking I'd get back to copy it when I had more time but by then the link wasn't up. Talk about lessons learned the hard way! :( At any point I am finding that to be able to access a true copy of this will and read it in it's entirety may help me to better understand the family connection.
I appreciate any help one light have to offer at this point.
Regards,
Maria
I'm trying to locate the current email address of Laurence Weaver who,
in 1998, was researching William Chapman and Christopher Weaver of
Berkeley County, VA/WV (info from a deed of 1777). This William Chapman
subsequently migrated to Champaign County, Ohio (Chapman's Creek).
Please email me off the list. UNLESS you're also researching this
Chapman/Weaver family; in that case, please post your family info to the
list. Pat Pulasky
Found some old notes and I believe
this to be found in Campbell county
Tennessee.
1900 Census
Albert Chapman born July 1863

Brucy E. 14 born 1886 TN
Harvey E. 12
John H. 8
Julia E. 6

I believe this Albert's father to be
Albert Chapman married to Emily Langley.
This isn't my line but thought it may
help someone.
There is a site on World Connect
but put in Emily Langley.

Okay, we are looking in Missouri.
how about some Chapman information on CHAPMAN in Ripley Co in the late 1800's?
I know that my Greatgrandfather Thomas E. CHAPMAN and second wife Martha JAne
FULTS lived in Taney county in the late 1890's per letters written my friends
and neighbors which ended up in his pesion file. Thomas was married to wife
#1 Lousetta/Loretta MAINER(spelling?) and had a bunch of kids before she died
in 1880 when they lived in Johnson co. ARKansas. three years later he
remarried in Newton Co. ARK. Who got the kids is a mistery because the
decendents of the second wife said she had only one child and no other's were
known of until we contacted them.
