Im looking for information on John H. Chapman. He was born in July of 1800
in Saybrook, CT. He married Mariah (Maria) Chureman or Chuseman. She was
born in Massachusetts.
They had four children born in New York. Benjamin 1926, Ruth & Nathaniel
1828, and Mary 1831. They then moved to Pennsylvania and had John in 1833
and Nancy in 1838. They then moved to Indiana and had Adaline in 1840 and
James in 1847. They finally found their destination in Springvale, Wisconsin
and had their last son Franklin Levi in 1851.
Why they made all these moves I am unaware of. Or if they had people in
these locations. If anybody has any information on any of this, I would
greatly appreciate it.
Thanx
Sue

Hello,
I am grasping at straws here, undoubtedly, but I figured it couldn't hurt to
ask.
I am seeking information on John Wilbur Chapman - he was apparently a
preacher, and was also a hymn-writer - I have several old hymnals with hymns
that he penned in them. My husband is named after this John Chapman - his
mother says that John Wilbur was a cousin to her mother, but is unsure of the
exact connection. I have little on the Chapman family, but the part that
would hopefully reveal a connection to this John Wilbur is below:
Descendants of John Henry CHAPMAN
Generation No. 1
1. JOHN HENRY(1) CHAPMAN was born in New Cumberland, WV. He married MARY
ELIZABETH DEUEL, daughter of LUTHER DEUEL and HANNA KIDDY.
Notes for JOHN HENRY CHAPMAN:
According to Hazel McBride, "John's brothers had a brick yard. John worked in
the brick yard as well."
Children of JOHN CHAPMAN and MARY DEUEL are:
i. OLIVER NELSON(2) CHAPMAN, b. 1878; d. 1878.
ii. EMMA ALICE CHAPMAN, b. 1879; d. 1879.
iii. ELTA MABLE CHAPMAN, b. 1880; m. FRANK LESLIE HENDRICKS.
iv. GEORGE HENRY CHAPMAN, b. 1882; d. 1929.
v. LUELLA CHAPMAN, b. 1884; d. 1913; m. JOHN MCCLOSKEY.
vi. ANNA MARY CHAPMAN, b. October 14, 1884, East Liverpool, OH; d. March
1957, Hookstown, PA; m. (1) JAMES JR. HALLADAY, May 1, 1905, Columbiana Co.,
OH; m. (2) FRANKLIN CLAY DREPPERD, ABT 1950.
vii. LAURA MAY CHAPMAN, b. 1887; d. 1892.
viii. NORA AGNES CHAPMAN, b. 1889; d. 1889.
ix. CORA CHAPMAN, b. 1891; d. 1891.
x. FLORA ALMA CHAPMAN, b. 1899; d. 1939; m. CHARLES GODFREY STROBEL.
xi. RUTH EUBECA CHAPMAN, b. 1903; d. 1903.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer!

Hello,
I'm looking for information on the siblings/ancestors of my
great-grandfather Marion Chapman, b. abt. 1870? probably in WV, m. Ethel
Stepp. Their daughter Vivian Gertrude was b. 24 Sept 1897 and m. Thomas
Davis in Mingo Co., WV.
Marion Chapman's parents were Burl (sp?) Chapman and Martha Starr.
Any more information on this family would be much appreciated - I seem
to have reached a dead end.

CHAPIN, Roger <1540 his grandson Samuel ~1638 >Springfield MA USA
I[Loretta Chapman <lorlee(a)gomontana.com>]am LOOKING for descendants
of Samuel CHAPIN to invite to
Paignton, Devonshire, ENGLAND, August 27-30 1998 to celebrate the
400th anniversary of his birth and baptism. The Vicar has extended
an INVITATION to all descendants to come and enjoy a Flower Festival
in the church in ENGLAND to commemorate that event.
Last August, my husband, Bill CHAPMAN, and I were in England doing
some genealogy research on my CHAPIN line, and found the church where
my ancestor Samuel CHAPIN was baptized; in the Paignton Parish in
Devonshire in 1598. He and Cecily PENNY were married in the same
church February 1623/4. The elderly gentleman that we met there,
Mr. Arthur Day, showed us the reredos erected in 1920 by some of
CHAPIN's descendants to honor him.
Samuel CHAPIN emigrated to the new world about 1538, and was to
become one of the co-founders of Springfield, Massachusetts, where a
statue of him was erected.
This coming August there is to be a Flower Festival at Paignton in
the church to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his birth and
baptism. The Vicar of that church has issued an invitation to all
CHAPIN descendants to come and celebrate the occasion.
I volunteered to generate a mailing list from those descendants who
visited the parish and signed the register, and have done so.
The unfortunate thing was that the list was not current; and also
many of them didn't include their mailing addresses with their
generations of descent. Just this week I have gotten about 6 or 7
returned for lack of current/proper address. Can anyone help? E-mail
Loretta Chapman <lorlee(a)gomontana.com> Once I get this thing taken care
of, I will be anxious to get on with our CHAPMAN genealogy and
sharing information that I have. Help getting the word out for the
Flower Festival. Thank you kindly, Sincerely, Loretta Chapman -above
