Hello
This is my first posting, I am seeking advice and assistance in
determining the pedigree of my 4th great grandparents, Roger CHAPMAN, b.
abt. 1761, Norwich, Eng. and Jean LYON, born in Kinneff, Kincardine, Scotland
abt 1765. He moved to Kincardine, Scotland where he was employed as a
coachman at Ury House, an estate near Stonehaven, Kincardine. He married
Jean LYON, about 1789 in Kincardine, Scotland. The years of their births and
marriage were found in the IGI in a patron submitted form. His place of
birth was found in Burke's Colonial Gentry, in an article about his grandson
Robert CHAPMAN (Charles, Roger) who emigrated to New Zealand. According to
the 1851 census for Dunnottar, Kincardine Jane CHAPMAN, widow 86, b. Kinneff,
resided at Wyn, Stonehaven with granddaughters Jane Keith 13, and Margaret
Keith 8 (daughters of Jean Chapman and William Keith)
Roger and Jean had 6 or 7 children as follows:
1. Mary b. 1777, Monikie, Angus, Scotland
2. John b. 1778, Monikie, (my 3rd ggfather) m. Jane EDWARD
3. Robert b. 1780, Balnaghict, Fetteresso, Kincardine, m. Amelia
WOOD
4. Charles b. 1782, Ury, Fetteresso, m. Mary WOOD
5. Elizabeth b. 1784, Balnaghict
6. Jean b 1790, Ury, m. William KEITH
7. and possibly, Isobel, who married Alexander STOTT, no record of
birth or marriage however they had 8 children born in Durris. Roger and Jean
were witnesses to the baptism of several of the children.
Son Robert CHAPMAN married Amelia WOOD and resided in Stonehaven.
According to the 1841 Census she was born in England. Their eldest daughter
Frances was born in England according to the same census, however, there is a
birth record for her in Fetteresso Parish, 6 May 1826. Any assistance or
advice to help me determine Roger and Jean's exact date of birth/christening,
and the names of their parents would be very much appreciated. If anyone is
related to this line I would like to hear from you.

For those on the Chapman-UK list, I'm aware that there are some of you that
it won't necessarily affect, but thought it was interesting, and wanted to
share anyway........

George was a baker in Micklegate St., Hartlepool, in 1827 according to a Hartlepool directory. A George Chapman married in Hartlepool in 1825 according to the marriages index. John Chapman( son of George), born 1828/9, was described as a 'Widower' and 'Merchant' when he married Ellen Binning at the "Parish Church" West Hartlepool in 1861.
Can anyone assist me in tracking down more detail on George, including names & d.o.bs.for his wife & children and their deaths/burials etc.
Thanks in anticipation,
Barry Chapman, Australia.
