Dan,
I wish to encourage our fellow Chapmans to send in for their DNA. I am told
there are not many Chapmans doing this. They gave me a total price of $231.
for the 37 marker test since we are a member of a group. I haven't received
my results as yet. My 85 year old male cousin was nice enough to do the
test and I paid for it.
Thanks,
Barbara Kratz

Subject: Re: [CHAPMAN-DNA] 12 or 25
Tom,
I'm Dan Chapman, administator of the FTDNA Chapman
project. There are other Chapmans who are waiting for
results but my 37 marker results are in. I was
declared R1b. There are about 45 12/12 matches for me
- no matches beyond the 12. For what it's worth, if
your interest is 'recent' genealogy, then I suggest
ordering at least the 25 marker test. If there is a
25/25 (or close) match there - especially another
Chapman, then you will probably want the 37 marker
results. I welcome you to the Chapman Project.

It appears from what I read that one can take the
12-marker test, look for matches at that level, then
later upgrade the results to 25 if there are
probable matches in the database.
Am I correct?
Tom
