Hi all,
I got my results from my 37 marker DNA test not too long ago. I ok'ed the transfer of
them over to
YSearch.org and did a search for genetic matches. Surprisingly, I'm not
a (good) match to any of the Chapman's already on there, but I have a full 25 markers
in common with someone whose surname is Strange that came from Devon, England. Also, my
Haplogroup is J2 which is different (I believe) than the other Chapman's that have
been tested. I'm starting to wonder if maybe there wasn't an adoption somewhere
back in my past. Anyone have any other explanations as to why I'd be a perfect match
(25 marker, 0 genetic distance) to a different surname?
Corey (Chapman??)

Today I ordered a DNA kit for my Dad as part of the Chapman surname
project at
familytreedna.com. This is his Christmas present, and he's
pretty excited about it. Our brickwall is Thomas Chapman, born about
1780, possibly in Connecticut. He married Sarah/Sally Gillett in 1800
in Roxbury, Connecticut.
Happy Holidays to all, and happy hunting!
Kathy Chapman
