ERASMUS CHAPMAN (NANCY also) let Cason McClenning, --all of Rowan Co. NC -
have 290 acres on Turner's Creek on the road which leads from Huntsville to
Salisbury for $725.00 witnessed by Isaac Bean, William Thornton and William
Hudson and proven by the latter in May 1813.

18 Nov 1815, Rowan Co NC Deed Book 25, Page 572:
Esq. Alexander Frohock (as High Sheriff of Rowan Co NC) on an execution of
Rowan County against STERLING CHAPMAN for £70, 6 shillings, and 6 pence
recovered by Moses A. Lock and David Smith with orders to sell and did sell
on Nov 18, 1816 to the highest bidder, Col Casper Smith of Rowan County, for
$311.00, now delivers to said Colonel Smith the following tracts:
--59 acres on Potts and Sandy Creek "beginning on the corner of the original
survey at a post oak, going west with the old pine 36 chains to a pine on
the line of Jonathan Cox, south 16 chains and 60 links to a stake on the
corner of Cox, east 36 chains to a stake on the old line, then north with
the old line to the beginning:
--150 acres adjoining the above, beginning on the corner of John Cox at a
stake, north 50 degrees east 20 chains to a hickory, south 50 degrees east 5
chains to an elder, north 30 degrees east 2 chains to the corner of Peter
Beck, east with his line 46 chains to a stake on the original line, south
with the same 24 chains to a stake on the original corner, west 66 chains to
a stake, then north to the beginning; and
- the adjoining 94 acres on Swan Creek, beginning on the corner of John Cox
and a corner of the above 50 acre tract, going east with the same line 66
chains to a stake on the corner of George Beck, south 16 chains to a stake,
west 56 chains ??? then north to the beginning - in all 303 acres -
witnessed by Godfrey Ratts and acknowledged by the Sheriff Frohock in Nov
court of 1819.

Michael Wilson, and William Jarvis who just bought 198 ¼ acres from William
Hudson on the road from Huntsville to Salisbury.

On this 25th day of August AD 1820, personally appeared in open court being
a court of Record for the County of Rowan, WILLIAM CHAPMAN resident of the
County of Rowan, aforesaid, who being first duly sworn according to law,
doth on his oath declare, that he was a resident citizen of the United
States on the 18th day of March 1818, that he served in the Revolutionary
War of the United States as set forth in his original declaration, that he
was not conveyed away any of his property since the 18th day of March 1818,
for the purpose thereby so to diminish it, as to bring himself within the
provisions of the act of Congress entitled an act to provide for certain
persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the
Revolutionary War passed on the 18 day of March 1818, -- that he has no
other effects than those contained in the following Schedule:
Kitchen Utensils to the value of $15
6 setting chairs $15
Debts due me to the amount of` $10
One riding saddle & bridle $10

An Equitable interest in a certain tract of land for which I have been
contending in law for a term of years and which I may never recover but if I
do it is uncertain when, and its value is inconsiderable, and the said
WILLIAM CHAPMAN doth further swear, that the foregoing schedule contains an
account of all his property as required by act of Congress. Sworn to and
declared on the 25th day of August AD in 1820 in open Court before the
Magistrates presiding.

Beck and the adjoining 94 acres on Swann Creek next to John Cox for $268.84,
witnessed by George Fraley and John H Hardie and acknowledged in Nov 1831.
