Hi Michael et al.
After much anticipation I've got some interesting results. Turns out that so far I
don't have any other Chapman matches but I do have a match to a Strange family. We
have a genetic distance of 3 (1 marker off by 1, 1 marker off by 2). The fine folks are
family tree DNA tell me that despite the difference in surnames, we have a common ancestor
anywhere from 9 to 22 generations back. At the moment I can't trace my line back far
enough to start comparing notes with my contact in the Strange family....but my hopes are
high that someday I'll be able to.
Does anyone else have any results? Does anyone have an idea of how many Chapmans have
been tested?

Hi Corey,
Just like you, we (actually, my Dad) got our results and don't match any
Chapmans but do have a couple of matches with others with different last
names. Our Recent Ethnic Origins appear to be Irish, but the Haplogroup
is I, which is almost exclusive to Northwest Europe and is common in
Viking populations. Our most distant Chapman ancestor is Thomas, who
was born about 1780 in Connecticut. We don't know where Thomas was from
originally - England? Ireland?
