Raymond G. Chaplin, LACONIA

LACONIA-Rayomond G. Chaplin, 93, died Tuesday at Belknap County Nursing Home after a short
illness. He was born in Nashua, the son of Ezra and Hattie (McLean) Chaplin. He
graduated from Nashua High School in 1926 and Brown University in Providence, R.I., in
1930. Chaplin lived in Nashua most of his life and moved to Laconia in 1997. He worked
for the Nashua Corp. for 46 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the First Church
of Nashua where he was former vice moderator and chairman of the church music committee, a
choir member and chairman of the Prudential Committee. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a
Shriner, president and board member of the Hunt Home in Nashua, and a member of the Nashua
Country Club. He enjoyed golf, bridge and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Joyce
(Pooler) Chaplin of Laconia; a son, Raymond Chaplin of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a daughter,
Barbara Chaplin of Portland, Ore.; two stepsons, James Carroll IV and John Carroll, both
of Laconia; fo!
ur grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will
not be held. Memorial funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the First
Church, 1 Concord St., Nashua. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Evans, pastor of the church, will
officiate. Services will follow in the family lot in Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.
