Do I have this correct? Kent is in England? Census 1841 & 1851 is that England,
also? Or did you slip over to CANADA, where the Censuses also are 1841, 1851, 1861,
etc.?
I know that CHAPLINs came from England, but mine were in the United States, in western
Pennsylvania & West Virginia. I am having problems getting them back to 1800 or
earlier. Are there any answers for me in England or CANADA?

I am not sure if there is a connection, but our Chaplin's are from Kent as well.
You may want to check out the Chaplins in my family; they were from
Brabourn Kent
Chart Kent
Frittenden Kent
Bittinton Kent
Willisborough Kent
Bermondsey London
Although I do not have a Henry Joseph Chaplin, you may want to look for just a Henry or
just Joseph; often they would go by a second name or even a nick name.
I have a Thomas Chaplin married to Elizabeth Chaplin in the 1841 Census. Children Ann,
Fredrick, Mary, Louisa, Sarah
I later found Fred Chaplin in a 1901 Census married to a Harriet (Swaffer) Children
Ellen, Ethel, Albert, Frank.
As well as the 1851 Census with Thomas Chaplin and Elizabeth again. and Fredrick and
Harriett in 1891 again.
Not sure where your Chaplins are from, but it looks like a lot of them came from Kent
and Bermondsay London.
Hope this helps.
Kelly
