Yep, when you start digging up graves you get bones Doug, and most are not attached to
each other...... or something like that.
What I do know is that John Chaplin or JB as I call him, is not (to the best of my
research) directly related to Richard (husband of Sarah Collis) Chaplin's family. But
JB pops up again somewhere and I can't find where at the moment. I have who he
married....I'm sure.
JB is from Ridgewell, Essex and I would guess is the key. But in 1881 as you note, Rebecca
Pudney was there, introduced by JB no doubt.
JB was also a witness at the marriage of Jane Collis to Frederick.
As for Rebecca's estate, I am not too surprised. Remember, it has been passed on from
mother Elizabeth (nee Bentall). David Taylor died at a reasonably young age and Elizabeth
then married John Pudney. House (or portion of) came with Elizabeth.
By the way, Elizabeth's sister, Susannah Bentall married my gt gt grandfather John
Collis.
