Hi guys,
I'm researching Henry Chaplain/Chaplin who married Emma Jane Dale in 1894.
On the 1901 census return they are definately called Chaplain, and they
had a son David, and a daughter Olive (I'm Olives grandson). However,
David was killed on the Somme in 1916 and his service record and memorial
both give his surname as Chaplin.
The family were living in Leyton in 1901, but earlier census returns give
multiple entries for Henry Chaplin and Chaplain, and I'm having some
difficulty in deciphering the correct one.
Any info gratefully accepted.
