Do you have any dates or places for Lieut. John CHAPLIN or his father, John,
or his son, John?
I have a Sarah Ellen CHAPLIN, b. ca. 1846 VA., later that area became Wetzel
Co., W.VA.
Her father was a John CHAPLIN, probably son of John CHAPLIN, who may have
been a son of William CHAPLIN.
We believe that the most recent John CHAPLIN married a Charlotte STONEKING,
dau. of James (Samuel ?) STONEKING and prehaps a Cynthia CLARK, although our
branch thought it was a MURPHY. Sarah Ellen CHAPLIN had brothers, and some
fought in the American Civil War (War Between The States, or North vs.
South). Off hand I do not remember the brothers' names, although I think
one of them was a Joseph CHAPLIN. I spell CHAPLIN this way; but I have
seen it other ways.
