I am trying to solve the relationship between the many Roswell Chapins, not
an uncommon name in the Chapin family. Do they all have a common ancestor??
Did all their ancestors go through VT?? Was there a surname significance to
the name, or was it just a popular name at the time? Is there a common
ancestor among the following, other than Deacon Samuel Chapin? Josiah?
Seth?
The only one I have personally documented is the son of Daniel, b. 1790. Per
the Chapin Books Daniel is from Samuel, Joseph, Seth, Josiah, Deac. Samuel.
There were 3 Roswell Chapins on the 1820 census; in MA, NY, and OH (mine).
Does anyone have any information on any of the father's of the many Roswells?
Any help is deeply appreciated. See below.
