I'm looking for information on Gordon Chapin, listed below.
Were death records kept that early and was there a local newspaper
that would have carried his obituary that is now on microfilm?
Gordon lived in Bloomfield at the time of the 1850 census.

Gordon Chapin, aged 69 yrs., died Feb. 22, 1855 and is buried
in Riverside Cemetery in Howe, Lima Twp., LaGrange Co., Indiana.
His stone is in Row 2, Plot #29 of the southeast section.
(The southeast section is east of the tool house,
south of the second drive, and numbered north to south.)
