Thank you to all of you who replied to my query on John Chapin and
William Henry Tharp. It was all very useful and helped me identify
the families. You were correct, the 1900 Fed. Census identified
William's mother-in-law, Adeline as Tharp and it should have been
Chapin, Susan Chapin Tharp's mother, Adeline Seamans Chapin. I have
since learned that William Henry Tharp's parents were John Crate
Tharp (1820-1860) and Mary Ann Giltner (1821-1891). John Crate Tharp
was born in NJ and died in North Chemung, NY. Mary Ann Giltner Tharp
died in Campbell, NY and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery,
Campbell, NY.
Best Regards, JB Wilson :-)
Hello JB:
More on John's family is at

and for his Chapin ancestry, see

If you're descended from him, we're Chapin cousins :^)
