He was one of the founders of Springfield, Massachusetts. I'm not sure if
all Chapin's in the country are descended from him, but I've heard of no
others. It is fascinating how that could be so.

Hi, Regarding old Sam. It is told that all Chapins are direct decendents
of Samuel Deacon andthat he was the "first" of all of us.. Also he was one
of the founders of Springfield Mass. Edwin Chapin
