Charles F. "Chip" Chapin, 84, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, died Friday
in the company of his family. Born April 22, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre,
he was a son of the late Fletcher and Susan Schmidt Chapin.
Chip was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and continued his
education at Penn State University. Chip was a Superintendent for
Sordoni Construction Services for 35 years, before retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Parish of Saint Therese in Wilkes-Barre and
was an enthusiastic outdoorsman with a love for animals.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Meghann Chapin Burgess;
brother, Gerard; and sisters, Marie Schwab, Irene Boyd and Helen Chapin.
Born in the family home on Orchard Street, Chip and his wife, Anne
Delaney Chapin, raised a beautiful, loving family there. Surviving,
in addition to his wife are children, Charles 'Chipper' and his wife,
Susan Chapin of Livermore, Calif., Michael and his wife, Susan Chapin
of Hunlock Creek, Kathleen Chapin and her companion, Anthony Antonitis
of Harveys Lake, Anne and her husband, Jerry Orloski of Mountain Top,
Christopher and his wife, Kathy Chapin of Wilkes-Barre and Karen and
her husband, Ed Nash of Easton; grandchildren, Brian Chapin, Michael,
Matthew and Jill Chapin, Jerry, David and Jeffrey Orloski, Christopher
and Daniel Chapin and Emily, Maggie and Carly Nash; great-grandsons,
Aidan and Conor Chapin; and a sister, Rita Molchan of Philadelphia.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from McLaughlin Family Funeral
Service, 142 S. Washington St. in Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at
10 a.m. in Church of Saint Therese, 25 Old River Road in Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Friends may call Monday 5 to 8 p.m.
