Robin,
I notice you mention that Harold Chapin was a playwright. I was
watching a PBS special about the development/history of Broadway a few
months ago and among the people interviewed was a man with the surname
of Chapin. He was some type of Broadway historian and as I recall.
Wish I could remember his full name. Perhaps he is the son? Or some
relations?

Harold Chapin was an American citizen who fought and died for England at
Loos, 26 Sept. 1915. I believe his mother, Alice Chapin,( author,
actress and friend of my mother), was British. His wartime letters to
his family, particularly, his young son (Dear Val") were remarkable. He
was a successful playwright in NY City for many years before his
death.I'm wondering if "Val" had children .Family interests were music
and Theatre. Appreciate any help. (Mrs) Robin Kernan in CA.
