Was born Mar 24, 1911 in Twin Falls, ID and died Nov 18,2000 in Dallas, TX
He attended Phillips Academy Andover at Boston, Massachusetts and Yale Univesrity at New
Have Connecticut. He was employed by Texaco as a retail representative in Wast Texas and
New Mexico. He was playing manager of the Lubbock Hubber Baseball Team. He served in the
US Navy during WWII as a Naval Aviator, primary flight instructor at Hensley Field at
Grand Prairie, test pilot and operations office in the Pacific Theater in Naval Air
Transport service in DC4s, instructor at Olathe KS in DC3s, public relations officer for
Naval Research in Washington DC.
He was a captain for Mercury Airlines.
He bought the Texaco Station in the Highland Park Shopping Village and served as president
of the Village Merchants Association and the Dallas Petroleum Retailers. He and his wife
also formed a condominimum management and real estate sales in Northwest Hwy and Preston
Rd area.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club,Dallas Yale Club.
Preceded in death by his wife Melita Johnson Chapin.
Survived by daughters, Knoxie Chapin Heap of University Park, Shelley Chapin Drake of
Denver CO; granddaughters, Jenna Heap Rupley, Barry Heap and Dorry Heap, all of University
Park.
Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas, TX
