This is a research tool that should help a lot of you researchers. Check it
out. I got the info from the England Gen Web site. Carol list MOM
Mary Ann's website is at
http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/
Mary Ann Warner has been indexing, for some time, CREW and PASSENGER LISTS
arriving at Sydney from the 1860's onwards. Mary Ann's indexes online are
hosted by the NSW Government.
You can search the website by name, place, ship, birthplace, occupation
etc.and then you can view the ORIGINAL ship's list to obtain all the
details. They are a brilliant source of information for mariners both
international and australian.
The importance of these shipping lists is not only relevant to Australian
mariners, but more so to international seamen, as many of the ship's
arriving came from overseas ports, and thus include seamen from Britain,
America, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Mauritius etc.
The crew lists tell you their name, age, occupation and native place.
Sometimes, rather than just a country, you get an actual county or town.
