Hi Julie,
Thanks so much for your reply to my query on Martha Stebbins Chapin.
I have heard about the Greenlee genealogies, now I must try and find
one locally, or on microfilm.
Thanks again, and have a wonderful Memorial Day! JB :-)

The "Poor Man's Index," published by the NEHGS, is an index to family
genealogies published in The Registers, Vols. 1 to 50. My copy lists
"Stebbins (vol)5, pp. 71, 351." Perhaps you could order copies of
those pages, which may have the data you seek?
Also, there is "The STEBBINS GENEALOGY," by Ralph Stebbions Greenlee
and Robert Lemuel Greenlee, in Two Volumes," privately published in
Chicago, 1904. It will probably have your Martha's line included. I
have copies of the first 10 pages, concerning my ancestor, Dea.
Edward Stebbing (24 Feb 1594/95-1688) and his daughter, Elizabeth
[Stebbins] Cadwell. I obtained the copies from the Arkansas History
Commission, which has the entire book (both volumes)on microfiche. I
suppose other repositories around the country may also have the books
(they were published years ago by University Microfiche), so you may
want to try places like the Newberry Library in Chicago, or the LDS
library.
Good Luck, and Happy Hunting!

Subject: [CHAPIN] Martha Stebbins Chapin 1754-1794
Hello listers,
I am looking for references to or connections to Joseph CHAPIN
(1744-1820) who married Martha STEBBINS (1754-1794). They had a son,
Caleb Stebbins CHAPIN (among others), but Caleb (1785-1855)is the one
that I'm concentrating on. He married Susan Bennett.
Would any of the CHAPIN researchers of this line, Joseph CHAPIN +
Martha STEBBINS have any other references to Martha's parents or
history. Another researcher said that Martha's parents were Caleb
STEBBINS + Elizabeth WARRINER, but that was not verified or
substantiated. I tried the LDS site, but the info was not consistent
enough to make a correct connection or assumption.
If you happen to connect from the Chapin side to the Stebbins lines,
I would love to get a better understanding of Martha's correct
lineage.
Thanks, and Happy Memorial Day!
JB Wilson, Beaverton, OR :-)
