James C. Campbell, 78, of Delmont, PA, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at his home. He was
born June 26, 1936, in Pittsburgh, son of the late James L. and Wilma Chapin Campbell.
He was a retired police officer for the Pittsburgh City Police with more than 20 years of
service, he served as a detective and headed up the Internal Affairs Department, later
rising to the rank of lieutenant. He was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Church,
Murrysville, and the Three Rivers Chorus for many years and was inducted into the Vocal
Group Hall of Fame and he was a member and past president of the St. Andrew Society of
Pittsburgh.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary "Dolly" Papale Campbell; three
children, Cheryl Campbell, of McCandless, James C. (Kelly) Campbell, of Crescent Township,
and Dina Campbell, of Morningside; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Jeff), Justin and Andrew
(Torie) Hauck and Craig (Amanda), Matthew and Collin Campbell; three great-grandchildren,
Ethan, Andrew Jr. and Liam; and three stepgrandchildren, Carol, Tina and Dean.
Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the HART FUNERAL HOME INC., Murrysville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Mother of Sorrows Church,
Murrysville. Everyone please meet at the church. If desired, memorials may be made to the
St. Andrew Scholarship Fund or the Mother Teresa Outreach at Mother of Sorrows Church.
