SELINSGROVE, PA - Robert C. "Robbie" Sprenkel, 54, of 956 Pine Brook
Road, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, in Haines Township, Centre
County, of injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident. Rob passed away
doing what he loved to do. He was born Aug. 21, 1955, in Danville,
a son of Robert C. and Joan (Chapin) Sprenkel, of Selinsgrove. On Sept.
15, 1973, he married the former Susan Elizabeth Portzline, who survives.
Robbie was a 1973 graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School. He had
been a partner in Robert Sprenkel & Son Arctic Cat and Sprenkel Marine,
Selinsgrove. At the time of his passing, he was the owner of the Boat
Dock and Sports Center and sales manager at the second location of Big
Bee Boats, Selinsgrove. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church,
Selinsgrove. Robbie was a Gold Bibber, ranked No. 44 in the eastern
division of the National Snowmobile Association from 1975 to 1977, when
he was actively racing snowmobiles. He held a private pilot's license
and loved to fly his Cessna 172 Sky Hawk XP and was an AOPA member.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed motorcycling, boating, kayaking
and riding all-terrain vehicles and UTVs. He also enjoyed cooking
and outdoor activities with friends and family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons and
daughters-in-law, Bryan Robert and Stephanie Jane Sprenkel and Jason
Abraham and Jayme Ann Sprenkel, all of Selinsgrove; one granddaughter,
Kristen Elizabeth, and was awaiting the arrival of Kourtney Ann;
two brothers, David Scott Sprenkel, of Potter County, and Keith Edward
Sprenkel and his wife, Tammy Sue, of Idaho; two nephews, Tyrone and Lucas
Caine; grandniece and nephew, Alexis and Derrick; and two sisters-in-law,
Aileen Ryan, of Selinsgrove, and her children, Michael, Eric, Jeffrey and
Megan Ryan and Kate Savidge, and Charlotte McCaddin and husband Joseph,
of Burlington, N.J., and their children, Brie, Alissa and Colin McCaddin.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristine Anne Sprenkel,
in 1973; one sister, Diana Lynn Sprenkel; one nephew, Charles
Edward Sprenkel; and one brother-in-law, Richard Ryan.
Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Pius X
Catholic Church, Selinsgrove, with Father Ted Keating as celebrant.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
