Subject: Missing brothers
Hello Listers,
Can anyone help ? This item has been discussed before on the List some
time ago.
George and Isaac Chant, born 1823 and 1825 at Sherborne, Dorset, sons
of Charles Chant and Charlotte Lockyer. Charles died aged only 27 yrs
old during 1828. There was one other siblings, Thomas born 1827,
Sherborne.
Both George and Isaac are listed on the 1841 census living at
Sherborne, together with their widowed mother and brother Thomas.
They seem to "disappear" after this date. No death, burial or marriages
records listed during the 1840's. All GRO and Sherborne Parish records
scoured. They are not listed on the 1851 census in any part of England,
or indeed any other later census return. Also checked are US and
Canadian census returns with no joy. Australian records also checked
with no luck.
Their younger brother Thomas has been located in all later census
returns, marrying Mary Ann Tucker during 1846 at Sherborne. he ended up
living at Henstridge, Somerset.
One presumes that George and Isaac migrated...but where to ?
Regards,
Sean
