Michael and other listers,
I was wrong about Daniel being the father. Just remembered I spoke to an
elderly desc living at Forbes, NSW sometime ago. She is Doreen Capelin
(nee Chant). She told me that Jabez arrived first, followed by his
mother Elizabeth and other siblings.
Alexander's parents were Elizabeth Male and William Chant of Stoke sub
Hampden. Alexander Chant died during 1923 at Young aged 77 yrs old. He
married firstly to Ruth Jennings. She died during 1887 at Young aged 39
yrs old. They were married in SA: Known issue:
i) William b. 1867 at Watervate, SA. He married Esther Creech at
Young 1888. Issue:
-Warren b. and d. 1889 at Young
-Violet b. 1890 at Young. Married to Fred Guster 1912 at Broken Hill
ii) Elizabeth Ruth b. 1869 at Watervate, SA
iii) John William Thorne Chant b. 1871 at Moonta, SA. Married to
Sarah Randall in 1896 at Burrowa, near Young. He died during 1953 at
Young. Issue:
-Jack Alexander b. 1902 and d. 1920
-Leslie Randall b. 1887 and d. 1898
-Dulcie Irene b. 1906 and d. 1969
-Olive b. 1910. Married to Jack Humpheries 1939 at Randwick
-Leonard b. 1904
-Dorothy G b. 1899
iv) Anna maria b. 1877. She did not marry
v) Amelia b. 1873. Married to ? Wilder.
vi) Arthur b. 1879. Married to Caroline McLaughlin. Died 1950 at
Leeton, NSW. Issue;
-George Alexander b. 1907. Married to Marjorie Collins.
-Ruth b. 1905. Married to Gideon Dare 1927.
-Mary P b. 1909. Married to Stanley McDowell.
-Florence b. 1910
-Arthur Serle b. 1912. Married to Violet Hurd 1937.
-Elizabeth E b. 1914 and d. 1927
-Carol b. 1916. Married to Mervyn Stokes.
vii) Daniel b. 1875. Married to Bridget McGoldrick 1899. Daniel
died 1903 at Leichardt. Issue:

xi) Walter b. 1888. Married to Sarah Ryan 1910 at Young. Issue:

-Ina b. 1910 and d. 1918 at Grenfell, NSW
-James Richard Alexander b. 1913. Married to Ellen ? He was
KIA during WW2. Issue:

-Daphne b. 1916
-Doreen b. 1918. She is the desc I spoke of above. Married
to ? Capelin.

After death of first wife Alexander Chant married to Sarah Weeks during
1893, with no further issue. I do have further details regarding this
branch, I will keep for a future posting. I also have details on
Alexander's elder brother Thomas Chant who settled and married at
Temora, NSW.

As regards the Alexander mentioned. I am certain that he settled in
Young, NSW, married twice and had many children, once of whom was
called Daniel. So your guess that Alexander's father might be Daniel
could be correct. I do not have Alexander's details at hand, however I
