Kerry posted her Website address on Monday for her

have Email access so for their benefit. I am posting

Kerry if you have Robert's baptismal entry who were the parents
listed as. I have no Robert born in 1784 that connected to any
of the three lines but maybe Robert's father is and you are one
of our missing links.
At present two Stoke Sub Hamden lines are from sons of Thomas
Chant b 1665 and Mary Virgin. They are Thomas b 1710 and Robert
born 1719. This lines dates back to 1584.
The other main Somerset line is one for Robert Chant son of Mary
(No father given in entry) b 1700 in West Chinnock.
No one has claimed the early Yeovil Chant families. Also be
aware Chant was in Wiltshire and Dorset from 1500 also. It
was more common than people think for people to move across
county boundaries in search of work, seeking a wife or
visiting relatives.
Wiltshire Chant lines turn up in Dorset and Somerset.
Somerset lines often have branches in Dorset. In Somerset
itself many other places other than West Chinnock and
Stoke-Sub-Hamden have early Chant Entries.
The IGI often has incorrect entries and only covers about
30-60% of parishes in each county. The Local Parish registers
stated in the 1500's only cover Church of England events.
People left England for many destinations after 1500 outside
the UK, And the Quakers, Society of Freinds, Wesleyans have
seperate registers. Some Stoke Sub Hamden Chant's turned up
in Sherborne Wesleyan registers. So be careful and doublecheck
sources and original data if you can.
We have had successes with people connecting up from overseas
Chants to the early families. Piddletown in Dorset with Hayden
and Sherborne Chants. Still a lot of broken lines out there.
I will try to assist connections where and when I can as I did
last year with some success.
I have not heard from Carly recently about her London Chants
but she is still in civil registration period after 1837.The
hope is she can get back to the census records 1841.51,61,71
and from these work out her line. Then maybe link in with the
earlier lines.
Thank you Scott for your support and update of your Hampshire
with Glostershire, Surrey and West Sussex Chant branches from
1795. Wonder where George circa 1775 fits in? possibly with the
Stoke and West Chinnock lines which have Georges from this period
as yet unfound branches of descendants.
I would like to welcome another Robert Chant b 1700 descendant
Beryl Renton. I would like to see our new members who have
joined since November to join in and post your interests.
We cannot connect up, offer assistance or advice on what to
do next if you sit on the fence. Maybe some of our longtime
list members would like to repost their interests.
If people prefer to contact me directly that's fine also.
