Hello Listers,
1926: Dec Qtr
Bertha 54 Hastings 2b 48
Another tricky one. There is no obvious choice, however Bertha Chant
born 1872 daughter of James Chant and Mary Ann Finch is the best match.
We discussed this family during early June. James originated in Sussex,
illegitimate son of Charlotte Chant. Bertha was unmarried on the 1901
census, aged 29 working as a housemaid in Paddington.
The previous posting on this family is date 10th June 06 if lister's
memories need refreshing.
My biggest concern is of course the registration district of Hastings.
Regards,
Sean

Not straight forward this one, could either be Edward born 1883 at
Poplar, son of Charles George Chant of Bratton, Somerset. We have
discussed this family before; or Edward born 1883 at Guildford. Not
sure of the latter's father, on the 1891 census his mother, Mary Chant
aged 28 born Cranleigh is listed as widowed.
Edward of Poplar is listed on the 1901 census at Wyke Regis, Dorset
with his parents so he is probably the least likely of the two above.
Can anyone identify Edward died 1926 aged 42 ?

Sean
