Hello Listers,

This looks to be:
Marriages Mar 1868
Bateman Rebecca Marylebone 1a 712
Chant James Marylebone 1a 712
On the 1871 census they are at Russel Street, Chelsea, London, James
aged 48, domestic servant born Somerset (no specific place given) and
wife Rebecca aged 39 born Eastbourne, Sussex. No children listed. On
the 1881 census Rebecca is alone, although listed as married together
with a daughter Annie aged 9 born Chelsea. On the 1891 census Rebecca
and Annie are listed again at Chelsea, aged 59 and 19. Rebecca again is
listed as being married and not widowed. On the 1901 census Rebecca at
Westbourne, Sussex as a visitor at Harriey Claxton's home. Again she is
listed as married and not widowed.
One wonders then what happened to James....did he died or were they
simply separated ? And who was James, where was he born in Somerset ?
Who were his parents ? Does anyone have any information on this family ?
Regards,
Sean
